Metrix serves customers worldwide with a complete line of instrumentation to measure and monitor vibration and provide early warning of potential machinery failure. These products include machine condition monitoring systems, proximity systems, transducers, seismic sensors, switches, transmitters, signal conditioners, monitors and portable meters.
Metrix Instrument Co. was founded in 1965 in Houston, Texas. It was the first company to offer 4-20 mA vibration transmitters for seismic and proximity monitoring. This greatly simplified the process of vibration monitoring and reduced its cost. The company is focused on customer-driven research and development.
Metrix’s commitment to innovation and product reliability continues to produce more firsts. Recent advancements include a loop-powered impact transmitter to detect mechanical looseness in reciprocating machines and a programmable, microprocessor-based proximity probe transmitter. Since 1992, Metrix has been ISO 9001 certified.
Roper Industries acquired Metrix in 1995, and the company began to expand its global presence by adding three regional sales and service offices. In 1998, Roper acquired PMC/BETA and combined it with Metrix, further increasing and strengthening the product line. Today, Metrix operates in over 40 countries and is a Limited Partnership of Roper, a $2.8 billion diversified provider of engineered products in analytical instrumentation, industrial controls and fluid handling.
Customers around the world depend upon Metrix products to monitor vibration on gas and steam turbines, motors, compressors, pumps, generators, gear boxes, paper machines and cooling towers. The company serves and supports global industries including chemical, power generation, oil and gas, water and wastewater, metals and minerals, pulp and paper, and food processing.
