Metrix MX8030 Proximity Probes

MX8030 Proximity Probes from Metrix^® are agency certified for hazardous areas (ATEX/CE, CSA, IECEx).  They come standard with VIBELOCK^® Connectors and Triaxial Cables. The proximity probes can be used in refineries, petrochemical plants, natural gas transmission, natural gas processing, power generation plants, or any machine that uses fluid film bearings or fluid lubricated thrust bearings. These proximity probes can be found in oil & gas, power generation, water & wastewater, pulp & paper, and other industrial facilities.

The MX8030 proximity probe series consist of an 8mm probe tip diameter and are available with all standard thread sizes and body configurations, including those mentioned in the API 670 standard. The MX8030 series provides engineers and technicians with proximity probes that are rugged and durable and can withstand high pressures. The outer casing is designed to protect it from damage against abrasion, chemical exposure, and heat. This sensor provides a repeatable and linear characteristic, necessary for high-speed turbomachinery and reciprocating compressors.

The MX8030 series is meant to measure vibration, position and speed. These important components of a vibration monitoring system can provide insight to how the machine is operating, allowing operators to get a better idea of the internal performance of their most complex machinery. In addition, proximity sensors can be mounted via a variety of methods, and Metrix provides the accessories necessary for their installation.

These proximity probes are highly recommended for machines with fluid film bearings. They’re especially helpful in applications that may be highly corrosive, submerged in water or oil, and areas of limited access. They're proven to provide accurate measurements when measuring vibration or position in rotating and reciprocating machines.

The MX8030 series offers a full 80 mil (2mm) range and are designed to provide full API 670-compliant performance characteristics when used with a matching MX8031 extension cable and MX2033 driver. MX8030 probes are fully interchangeable with Bently Nevada^® (BN) 3300 and 3300 XL 5mm/8mm probes. The MX8030 series is also fully compatible with the MX2034 Proximity Transmitter.

The Metrix 8030 proximity probes have achieved the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) certification after third-party testing. The testing is based on the IEC61508 Functional Safety standards, which makes our products appropriate for use across an array of industrial applications.
