Premium Vibration Transmitters from Metrix

Metrix Vibration offers several types of innovative transmitters for your vibration monitoring needs

Vibration Transmitters
A vibration transmitter measures vibration levels in machinery for trending and analysis. Maintenance teams use vibration transmitters for condition monitoring, giving them insight into the overall amplitude of vibration signals. Vibration transmitters have an output of 4-20 milliamps (mA). Vibration transmitters provide overall vibration levels, indicating the magnitude of stress the rotating or reciprocating asset is under. The 4-20 mA output goes to a Control System, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System, or other system that can display the 4-20 mA output. The condition monitoring data allows you to improve the scheduling of maintenance cycles and protects your equipment and employees by noticing emerging issues before they lead to severe failures. The vibration transmitters ensure your equipment and processes are running within specification without the need of a monitoring system, and they take advantage of the control system that is necessary to run the plant.

There are many applications for a vibration transmitter. As the name implies, it senses the vibration of any equipment or system at the location where it is installed. The most widespread application of a vibration transmitter is to measure the vibration of rotating and reciprocating equipment. They are useful in these applications because they provide early warning of a change in machine condition, thereby providing an alert so one can look for issues like misalignment, unbalance, looseness, wear, or other mechanical faults. These measured outputs are then analyzed to determine any significant stress to the equipment and predict the condition of the system. Vibration transmitters are very important and economical components of any predictive or proactive maintenance program.

Why should you choose Vibration Transmitters from Metrix?
Metrix Vibration has been a premier supplier of vibration transmitters for more than 55 years. We have sustained ISO-9001 certification for 20+ years, proving our commitment to quality and constant improvement. We have complete trust in our products, and that is why we offer a full 36-month warranty.

Machinery condition monitoring is an important facet in modern maintenance. Avoiding unscheduled downtime is critical to maintain corporate competitiveness. Our vibration transmitters are essential for success whether your industry is in Oil and Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Power Generation, Water and Wastewater Treatment, Manufacturing or any other industry that uses rotating and reciprocating machinery.

Metrix Vibration is a global supplier of industrial vibration monitoring systems. Our goal is to save on unplanned downtime, improve operational efficiency, and protect your most valuable equipment, while providing early warning of any impending failure. We can help you effectively monitor all types of rotating and reciprocating machinery including pumps, fans, motors, centrifugal compressors, turbines, generators, and other assets. We understand the vital role we play in these industries and remain committed to you and your business. The following transmitters are widely used for fluid film bearings and rolling element bearing machinery.

MX2034 Proximity 4-20 mA Transmitter

The Metrix MX2034 Proximity Transmitter is field configurable for radial vibration, axial position or speed measurements. It combines the performance of a fully API 670-compliant eddy-current proximity measurement system with the flexibility of digital configurability. Users can order exactly what they want, or they can configure their transmitter system in the field using Metrix’ free software. The MX2034 can be field configured for over 40 target materials, a variety of probe tip diameters, different manufacturers, extension cable lengths, and linear ranges. It is the ideal spare part.

The MX2034 is capable of eliminating cross-talk between two adjacently installed proximity probes, the dynamic output signal measured at the BNC can be configured for positive or negative polarity depending upon the application, and transient electrical spikes can be suppressed in the system because the sensor samples at such a high rate (18,000 times per second). With the 4-pin connector, users of the MX2034 can send the dynamic signal output to a vibration monitoring system up to 100 meters away (340ft), and the 4-20 mA output can be sent up to several kilometers (1.5 miles) away. There are many other advanced features of the MX2034 that customers can take advantage of to optimize the value of their transmitter system. Metrix has the probes, cables, and accessories to meet your needs.

ST5484E Velocity 4-20 mA Transmitter

The Metrix ST5484E is a self-contained, loop-powered seismic velocity transmitter that incorporates a piezo-electric accelerometer, signal integrator, RMS peak detector, and 4-20 mA signal conditioner into a single, robust package. The transmitter can be mounted directly on the machine case or bearing housing without need of any intervening signal conditioning equipment. Its 4-20 mA output signal is compatible with most industrial process control instrumentation such as PLCs, DCSs, and SCADA systems, allowing trending and/or alarming capabilities for a simple, economical vibration monitoring solution. The transmitter is also available in a 4-wire version where the extra two conductors provide direct access to the raw acceleration signal, facilitating easy connection to portable data collectors and analyzers.

An extremely wide range of full-scale outputs, mounting stud options, and hazardous area approvals are available, along with an option for 316 stainless steel case materials (303 stainless is standard). The ST5484E velocity transmitter is a perfect choice when you are monitoring your rolling element bearing assets.

We also have a variant to the ST5484E where we include two relays, so this powerful vibration transmitter can be turned into a vibration switch or mini protection system. That product is the SW5484E.

Conclusion

Metrix offers vibration transmitters with a wide variety operating of temperatures, frequency responses, scale factors, case materials, connector types, mounting options, and hazardous area approvals.

Our monitoring equipment can likely reduce your machinery operating costs, increase your operating times, and increase safety for your employees. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us today.
